- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★I would say Rockwood Park is one of the most under appreciated spots in town. Great walking trails, a dog park, several beaches, mountain bike trails, playgrounds, Lily's Cafe, kayak rentals, free skating with lights at night. - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★I run in this park almost every day. It is a peaceful, quiet place to get away from all the city traffic and exhaust fumes and run is fesh air. There are plenty of well cared for trails for hiking or biking. Also Lily Lake and the Fisher Lakes are great lakes for recrational swimming of even competitive swimming with the Rockwood Park Triathlon. Nestled on Lily Lake is a multipurpose facility with Banquet rooms, meeting rooms, restaurant, changing rooms for swimmers or runners. There is an interpretation centre for visitors and a RV/Trailer park for longer term visitors. This park is withing the city limits and very close to the downtown business district. This summer, we had been advised to stay out of the water due to ringworm which was a bit of a downer but the lifeguards let us know PRIOR to going in so kudos to them. Camping there is a great time.
